Meme Literacy and the challenge of critical agenticity

Fabbro, F.

The paper argues for the socio-pedagogical relevance of Meme Literacy in the current media ecosystem and then suggests how the historicization of the ‘politics of irony’ that accompany the (re)production of online memes – particularly political memes – can contribute to outlining a more critical approach to this particular form of media literacy, as well as promoting a critical agentivity situated in onlife power relations.
